Professional success doesn’t begin when a student wears a graduation cap and gown and receives their diploma. At Western Kentucky University (WKU), preparing for professional success is a process that begins the moment students enter The Gordon College of Business (GFCB) during their Freshman year.
Recognizing the value of fostering the academic and professional development of their students, the GFCB implemented an innovative student initiative called“Professional Education and Knowledge” (PEAK). PEAK, powered by Suitable, is a non-required mobile application that provides students with a comprehensive digital roadmap that complements their academics with enriching co-curricular and experiential learning opportunities, all delivered in a modern, gamified format.
Join Monica Duvall (Director of Student Success) as she showcases how GFCB has leveraged Suitable’s mobile-first solutions to bridge the co-curricular learning gap, empower students to articulate their collegiate experience and achieve professional success. Utilizing the NACE Core competencies, students attend and participate in various events, seminars, workshops, and tasks that are connected to specific skills. As students continue to participate in the program, they can earn badges and micro-credentials, along with desirable prizes.
Monica will also break down PEAK programming, including the Certificate for Advanced Professionalism, and how that certification is giving GFCB students a distinct competitive edge in the job market.
This event will provide:
- Best practices for implementing a non-required professional development program.
- Methods for assessing student engagement data for AACSB accreditation and Learner Success outcomes.
- An inside look at PEAK’s competencies, experiences, and digital badges.
- Tips on how to maximize Suitable’s capabilities to improve career readiness and foster competency development at scale.
