A quick note: due to technical difficulties, this presentation is audio-only. To see Dr. Murrell's face once again, please sign up for Pathways 2021, where she will be a keynote speaker & share her Diversity, Equity & Inclusion data workshop. You can also check back with our events page or on social media for more [Re-Envisioning Student Engagement] episodes coming soon!
Following the trend of leveraging data ubiquity to make smarter and faster decisions throughout the student lifecycle, a number of challenges coincide with the seemingly endless landscape of opportunity. This presentation will discuss these challenges and what needs to be done to address concerns around implementation, integration, utility, equality, and ethics. Likewise, the volume, variety, veracity, and velocity of data being generated throughout the student lifecycle, while promising, needs to considered carefully to balance the opportunities with the risks. This presentation will also address considerations and real-world anecdotes of things to think about, how to mitigate risks, and how to optimize student and institutional performance.
Our hope is that you will be part of this ongoing dialog so that we can learn both with each other and from each other. We will provide a platform for your thoughts and comments along with a monthly roundtable discussion to stimulate creative thinking on important topics such as re-envisioning student engagement, competency-based models, addressing disparities within student engagement, how data can impact or obstruct student engagement outcomes and other topics that will surface over the next several months. We look forward to your input, ideas, and contributions.
