We invite you to join us on April 13th at 1pm (ET) for Episode 7 of Dr. Murrell's "How It Works" webinar series. In this episode, Dr. Murrell will interview Joe McCarthy, Ph.D. (Vice Provost, Undergraduate Studies) from the University of Pittsburgh. Join Dr. Murrell and Joe as they discuss how Pitt is leveraging Suitable's web and mobile platform for their competency-based, co-curricular engagement initiative "The Outside the Classroom Curriculum" (The OCC).
The OCC is not only a way for Pitt to engage students in a meaningful way but also serves as an assessment tool, providing both qualitative and quantitative data needed for Middle States (MSCHE) accreditation. Joe will also dive into the strategies and approaches to accreditation that have evolved over the years and give insight into current industry trends and how reporting requirements are shifting to ask for more co-curricular, career readiness, and experiential learning evidence.
The OCC is a collection of experiences, programs, and events at Pitt that help students to make the most of their collegiate experience. Open to all Pitt students, regardless of major or career path, the OCC helps students develop highly desirable character traits and life skills. Students download the Suitable mobile app during orientation to start tracking their experiences and earn digital badges and credentials throughout their time at Pitt.
This event will include:
- An overview of how Pitt uses Suitable to assess co-curricular involvement and experiential learning.
- An inside look at Joe's MSCHE accreditation strategy and how it has evolved.
- A discussion about key Suitable capabilities.
- Real-time Q&A with Dr. Murrell and Joe!
